Ink Formulation Chemist

 Company Description

International Solar Electricity Technology (ISET) is a rapidly growing Solar Energy Company engaged in the R&D and manufacturing of printable thin film photovoltaic cells. ISET is commercializing its patented technology to fabricate low-cost Copper-Indium-Gallium Selenide (CIGS) solar cells and modules for terrestrial, portable, and space applications using rigid and flexible substrates. Having recently expanded to a larger facility, ISET is positioned to be a leader in the manufacture of CIGS solar cells.

Position Summary

This individual will be responsible for formulating inks of copper, indium, gallium and their compounds, characterizing them and tailoring their properties to meet the needs of various ink coating techniques.  The individual will assist in scaling up the process for increased volume production of the ink.  The individual must be self motivated, disciplined, organized and be able to work in a collaborative, multitasking environment with minimal supervision and with a focus on delivering project goals in a timely manner.

 Responsibilities:

  • Formulate inks and dispersions to support solar cell research and production.
  • Develop new ink formulations and improve quality of existing ink formulation.
  • Characterizing inks to ensure that they meet required manufacturing needs.
  • Tailor ink properties based on feedback from engineers and technicians.
  • Assist in scale up of the ink making process
  • Maintain rigorous documentation for ink qualification and communicating them to management

 Qualifications:

MUST BE U.S. CITIZEN OR PERMANENT RESIDENT

  • B.S./M.S./Ph.D. in chemistry, ceramics, material science or chemical engineering.
  • Hands on experience in making inks and dispersions in paint, coating or printing industry
  • Experience with dispersants, defoamers, humectants, viscosity modifiers and other rheology modifiers
  • Experience with ink/dispersion characterization techniques.
  • Experience with materials’ characterization techniques such as XRF, XRD, Thermogravimetric Analysis.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills with ability to communicate across diverse company functions.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.  Will write up and present experimental results, project status reports, and make project recommendations.
  • Ability to acquire technical expertise in new areas quickly as required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate and lead within a culturally and functionally diverse organization.
  • Ability and desire to work in a R&D environment with multiple project responsibilities and changing priorities.
  • Experience in CIGS technology or Industrial scale formulation, a plus.
