Dr. Vijay K. Kapur
Vijay K. Kapur PhD, MBA

President & CEO of International Solar Electric Technology (ISET) has founded the company in 1985. Dr. Kapur has thirty six (36) years of extensive experience in Photovoltaics covering R&D, manufacturing and sales. His current efforts are focused on commercializing ISET’s patented technology for low-cost manufacturing of ‘Ink-Based’ thin-film CIGS solar modules on both rigid and flexible substrates.

Prior to founding ISET, he served as Director of Applied Research for ARCO Solar from 1979 till 1984. Dr. Kapur worked on various aspects of PV technology at ARCO, including device processing, battery development and PV system design. He made major contributions by developing manufacturing processes that have become industry standards for crystalline silicon as well as thin-film CIGS solar cells.

Prior to joining Arco Solar, Dr. Kapur worked at Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) from 1976 till 1979, where he developed the unique sodium reduction method for low-cost production of silicon for solar cells that is being commercialized today.

Earlier in his career, Dr. Kapur operated a high-volume Chlor-alkali chemical manufacturing plant for DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd. in India. He subsequently entered the energy industry, serving from 1963 to 1968 as a Scientific Officer with India’s prestigious Department of Atomic Energy, investigating techniques for handling and treatment of radioactive wastes at Bhabha Atomic Research Center (BARC).

He received his Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry (1976) from the University of Pennsylvania and an M.B.A. (1992) from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).  He holds nine (9) patents and has published more than fifty (50) papers relating to PV technology.
